““When Filippa Gojo sings, there is an immediate and astonishing clarity in the air. That is explicitely not because she comes up with something well known. Her warm, dark timbre exudes – despite all the agility of her singing – tranquility and demands concentration, which she rewards with surprising syllables, rhythms and interval leaps.” .“

Her jazz vocal studies took her from her hometown Bregenz to the “Concervatory of Music and Dance” in Cologne, where she was soon absorbed in the thick of the action with German jazz greats and renowned ensembles such as the WDR Bigband, as well as her own quartet.

After graduating with a degree in jazz vocals, Filippa Gojo went on to earn her master’s degree, also in Cologne. In 2014 she was awarded the City of Cologne’s “Horst and Gretl Will Scholarship” for jazz and improvised music. In 2015 she received both, the band- and the soloist prize of the New German Jazz Award with her “Filippa Gojo Quartet”.
