Cologne based trumpet and flugelhorn player Matthias Bergmann is one of the bussiest jazz players and teachers in Europe.
He leads his own band with Claudius Valk (sax), Hanno Busch (git), Hendrik Soll (p), Cord Heineking (b) and Jens Duueppe (dr) which has 3 CDs out („Pretend It’s A City“ 2021 „All The Light“ 2016 both on Float Music and „Still Time“ 2008 on Jazz4ever ) and has recorded more than 70 CDs as a sideman with the bands of Florian Ross, Axel Fischbacher, Andre Nendza, Clemens Orth and many others.

He is a member of the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the FUCHSTHONE ORCHESTRA and the legendary Rhythm Combination & Brass of Peter Herbolzheimer. Touring all over the world, he played with Dianne Reeves, Charlie Mariano, New York Voices, Till Brönner, Lee Konitz, Peter Weniger, Wolfgang Haffner, James Morrison, Judy Niemack, Paolo Fresu, Jochen Rückert and many others.

As a teacher for jazz trumpet and improvisation he is working at the “Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne”, the “Hochschule für Musik Mainz” and the “Glen Buschmann Jazz Akademie Dortmund” and teaching at “Jazz Clinics” all over Europe.
